THE SHABBAT PROJECT

Next Shabbat (Saturday 12^th October)  is a special Shabbat that will be observed by the entire Jewish community. It was conceived by the Chief Rabbi of South Africa, Rabbi Warren Goldstein and is called the Shabbat Project.

At Beit Ariel, we determined to join with our people by making this Shabbat out of the ordinary. We decided to do the following:

1)     We will celebrate and observe our normal erev Shabbat (Friday night) service together with the Zichron HaMashiach (communion) observance

2)    We will meet as usual at 10h00 until 12hoo on the Saturday for our Torah service and the in-depth discussion of Parashat Lech L’Cha.

3)    Then, we will have a light bring ‘n share lunch together at Beit Ariel (milchik). Please bring a platter of prepared foods plus some refreshment.

4)    Then, we will watch a rather hilarious DVD on marital relationships by a man who is a pastor but it is not cloaked in religious language. Those of us who have watched portions can testify that you will have a good laugh

5)    We will have the afternoon to rest and then, at 6pm

6)    We gather at the home of Marco & Tanya Zanon in Pinelands for a bring ‘n share supper (milchik) followed by a havdalah service where we bid farewell to the Shabbat and welcome in yom rishon, the first day of a new     week

Turn off Forest drive.( Main rd going through Pinelands ) into Howard dr (where Howard Centre is ) travel over bridge to T junction - turn right into Ringwood dr - 2nd left into DISA ave.
